Hyundai Exter is all set to make a mark in the Indian automotive scene with its smart electric sunroof and dashcam with dual camera. The micro-SUV, which will rival the Tata Punch, gets a host of segment-first features and is scheduled to be launched in India on July 10.

The new Exter is touted as an SUV big on comfort and convenience. It offers features like an extensive touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, rear AC vents, and automatic climate control. The Exter also gets six airbags, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system as standard.

However, it is the SUV’s suite of advanced safety systems that are garnering the most attention. For example, the Exter will be the first sub-4 meter SUV to offer a segment-first dual camera-equipped dashcam. The feature will have a front and a rear camera, a 2.31-inch LCD, smartphone app-based connectivity, and multiple recording modes, including Driving (standard), Event (safety), and Vacation (time-lapse).

The dual camera-equipped dashcam will be available only on the top-spec variant of the Exter, which will be equipped with a 1.2 liter Kappa petrol engine (E20 Fuel Ready) and a Smart Auto AMT transmission. In addition, the SUV will also be offered in a CNG variant with a 1.2-liter liter bi-fuel Kappa petrol + CNG engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and Smart Auto AMT.

The Hyundai Exter is also offered in a selection of monotone and dual-tone exterior paint shades. Customers can choose Atlas White, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Cosmic Blue, Titan Grey, and Ranger Khaki. Moreover, the company has included two new and exclusive colors – Cosmic Blue and Ranger Khaki in its dual-tone palette.

In terms of specifications, the Exter will be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine that produces 83 hp and 114 Nm. The company also offers a CNG variant powered by the same 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 69 hp and 95 Nm.

In the area of connectivity, the Exter will be offered with a Smart Auto AMT and Hyundai’s Bluelink-connected car system with voice recognition and AI assistance. This system will support a variety of apps, including navigation, music streaming, and smart home connectivity. Moreover, customers can use the platform to locate their vehicles using an integrated GPS tracking system. They can also check the status of their vehicle’s battery, oil level, and more through an in-built app. Moreover, the users can control their Hyundai Exter’s connected car features remotely from anywhere. Bookings for the all-new Exter have been opened and can be made at Hyundai dealerships or on the company’s website. The Hyundai Exter is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh. It will be sold in five variants – EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect.
